Sunday Newsletter - Self Alignment - Resolving Internal Conflicts
Feb 02, 2025
Hello everyone.
Happy Sunday and happy February!
A new month, with new opportunities and new blessing to be had.
I hope you are feeling positive and inspired this week.
I have experienced power outages and Tax returns.
My time in serving my clients has been reduced and I have been given time to catch up on chores, reflection and reading (thank goodness for Kindle).
How have you spent your week?
What new experiences have you had? What one thing filled you with the most joy this week?
Hit reply and let me know.
I read all of your feedback and I love discovering what’s going on with you.
Putting The Pieces Together
There is a subject that has come up a number of times this week around self-sabotage, blocks to our achievement, not being our true selves and unable to motivate ourselves to take the actions toward the goals we set out at the beginning of January.
If you read my newsletter you’ll know that I advocate for prep and a different approach to creating the outcomes I want in my life. I have a program ‘Clear, Clarity, Create – New Life by Design’ that I put together specifically to help clients get out of their own way, set goals they are TRULY passionate about that align with their Identity and Values They also learn tools that they can use to keep themselves inspired and on track to inevitable success.
One of the areas I cover in this program is around working with the pieces of ourselves so that we are congruent and aligned in our identity. It's an opportunity to release any internal conflicts that might be stopping us from getting those desired results.
I’d like to share a little bit about that with you and provide you with a quick yet powerful exercise you can use to get started putting those pieces together and getting them to work in harmony with your vision for your life.
Of course, if you want to go deeper then you can reach out and I can send you the details of my New Life by Design Program.
Which Part of You Doesn’t Think You Have the Time and Which Part Wants to read on?
Grab a cuppa (mines a strong coffee – House Roast this week) and let’s explore releasing your internal conflicts!
This is one of my favourite things to do because it is so powerful. My favourite thing is to work with you to release phobias – pure magic right there.
Tackling Internal Conflicts
If you've ever been torn between two options and you’ve heard yourself say ‘part of me feels X is the right thing, yet another part of me thinks Y is better.’ And maybe you just decided not to decide.
Something like this occurs when we have an internal conflict.
More impactful conflicts maybe stories of someone who is almost a Jekyll and Hyde like character exploding every now and again saying things they don’t really mean, but which perhaps cause upset or embarrassment.
Sometimes people are striving for success but part of them is too afraid to allow that success to materialise.
You’ve probably also heard people say “well part of me wants to go for that new job and part of me doesn’t “ ….
Or …..
‘I’m in two minds whether to go for that promotion’
Or they’ll say something like…
‘On one hand I want to live abroad but on the other hand I want to stay close to what I know.’
Now imagine having a way to help overcome that. To overcome that internal conflict in a way that leaves you feeling more whole, aligned and complete.
Parts in Business
Understanding the principle of parts integration can also help within business.
Just as there are internal conflicts within people so there are within organisations. And although a formal parts integration (the technique we can use to resolve internal conflict) is not doable within an organisation, the structure and principle of parts integration can be easily applied.
Now think about your business or your organisation for a moment.
How much does the internal conflicts cost your organisation? For example, the sales department not getting on with the delivery/fulfilment department.
Imagine…. being able to resolve that.
How much would that be worth to you as a business consultant, for example?
What would that do for your business prospects?
Coming back to individuals, getting rid of incongruence at the unconscious level helps us to feel more aligned.
And some people say that parts integration helps people’s health.
You can imagine, couldn’t you?
If you think back to the mind body connection you can imagine that someone, if they had a major internal conflict, could show signs of that physiologically and in their health, especially related to stress or anxiety.
And therefore, resolving that internal conflict through parts integration could help them to improve their health.
How powerful is that?
WHAT are parts/parts integration and where do parts come from?
Parts are part of the unconscious mind.
If you can imagine that there is a blank sheet of paper and that is your unconscious mind when you are born prior any dis -integration. And I deliberately pronounce it that way – dis integration.
Then at some point a part gets formed in the unconscious mind.
It’s detached from the rest of the unconscious mind in some way.
Parts are a functional blockage which interfere with the flow of information through the neurology.
The theory is that parts usually have their own values and beliefs systems, and some parts think they are in charge of maintenance of your internal ‘system’.
So you can see how this could become a significant problem for someone.
Because parts are formed in the unconscious, you may never pick up on them and wonder why you can’t get those results in your life. Internal conflicts can be so energetically exhausting!
Therefore, integrating parts should remove the block and help the information to flow more smoothly, and will normally improve our physiological energy and physiological and psychological health.
Many times, when I’ve either done a parts integration or seen one done, the client experiences a very marked shift physiologically and there is some kind of release of energy.
A part is like a mini sub personality it is normally part of the presenting problem that a client may bring to us. And it’s almost like the part seems to have a mind of its own.
Another thing about parts is that they are only there part of the time.
So if for example ‘part of me believes I’m not good enough’, that’s a part.
If I just don’t believe I’m good enough, then that’s a belief. A belief is full time. The belief is true all of the time.
So parts are there for part of the time.
How do integrate parts and achieve alignment?
Parts integration is usually done with a trained NLP practitioner or coach.
However, you can resolve minor parts by visualising them and going through an internal conversation to resolve any conflict. If while you are visualising them, you identify where in your body it feels like they reside and what they might sound like, and even assign a colour to the part, that helps with associating with the it and makes it more realistic for you to have the conversation.
Simple Parts Integration Process
Here are the steps you can use to perform a simple Parts Integration:
Step 1: Identify the Parts
1. Reflect on Your Conflict: Think about the internal conflict you are experiencing. Identify the two or more parts of yourself that are in disagreement. For example, one part may want to take a risk, while another wants to play it safe.
2. Name the Parts: Give each part a name or label that resonates with you. This could be descriptive (e.g., "The Adventurer" vs. "The Protector") or more abstract.
Step 2: Visualise the Parts
1. Find a Comfortable Space: Sit or lie down in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed.
2. Visualise Each Part: Close your eyes and visualise each part as if they were separate entities. Consider where in your body you feel each part resides.
3. Assign Attributes:
· Colour: Choose a colour for each part that represents its essence.
· Sound: Imagine what sound each part might make or how it might express itself verbally.
Step 3: Engage in Internal Dialogue
1. Create a Safe Space for Conversation: Imagine a safe, neutral environment where both parts can meet and communicate without judgment.
2. Start the Conversation:
· Invite Each Part to Speak: Allow each part to express its feelings, desires, and concerns. You might say, “Adventurer, what do you want?” followed by “Protector, what are your fears?”
· Listen Actively: Pay attention to what each part says without interrupting. Acknowledge their perspectives.
Step 4: Explore Common Ground
1. Identify Shared Goals: Look for common objectives between the parts. What do they both ultimately want? This could be safety, happiness, success, etc.
2. Collaborate on Solutions: Encourage both parts to brainstorm together on how they can work in harmony to achieve these shared goals.
Step 5: Integrate the Parts
1. Visualise Integration: Imagine both parts coming together into a single entity that embodies the strengths of each while minimising their limitations.
2. Assign New Attributes: As they integrate, consider what new colour or sound this unified part might have, symbolising its new identity.
3. Affirm the Integration: Visualise the parts integrating back into the wholeness of your body. Conclude with a positive affirmation that reinforces this new alliance within yourself, such as “I am balanced and whole.”
Step 6: Reflect and Ground Yourself
1. Take a Moment to Reflect: Spend a few moments reflecting on how you feel after this process. Notice any changes in your emotional state or physical sensations.
2. Ground Yourself: Open your eyes and take some deep breaths to ground yourself back in the present moment.
3. Journal Your Experience: Consider writing down your thoughts and feelings about this process to reinforce the insights gained.
By following these steps, you can effectively work with internal conflicts and create greater self-awareness and integration within yourself.
Remember that this is a practice; feel free to revisit it whenever you encounter conflicting parts of yourself!
"Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one's being, but by integration of the contraries." - Carl Jung's
I hope this adds value and gives you something to ponder this week.
I would love your thoughts and perspective on this.
